Hello there Volchko family, hope you are looking forward to the upcoming 4th Volchko Family Reunion.

WHO: Volchko Family Members   WHAT: 4th Family Reunion   WHEN: Saturday July 22, 2017 Noon-8PM

WHERE:  Settlers Cabin Park, Oakdale, Pa.  Pavilion: Apache   WHY: Cousins to meet Cousins and Family,

It’s been since 2008 that we had the last reunion, all the Great/ Grandparents, aunts and uncles are gone before it’s too late and family is lost.

You can look online for Hotels near or around Settlers Cabin Park, Oakdale, Pa. or in the Robinson Township, Pa. area.  There are several hotels with special offers including breakfast, and pools.  Check it out and make your reservations now.  The old homestead and town of Crucible, Pa. is about an hour down Interstate 79, should you want to take a ride. There are several malls, theatres, in the surrounding area also.  Pittsburgh is about 20 minutes away from this area that has its own special sites to see. The Pittsburgh International Airport is about 20 minutes from this area, with car rentals.  Allegheny County airport is about an hour so from Robinson Twp. Perhaps some will make it a weekend and come in Friday to site see, before the reunion on Saturday, or plan a longer vacation around this date.

Many of you have been contacted  by  either Andrew Volchko, Judith Volchko, Debbie Uzarski, Robin Krisak, or John Volchko, either by email or phone.  We are the committee that is putting together this family reunion for all to enjoy.  If you have shared your email, addresses, phone numbers, family member details including the same as above with any of the committee, you won’t have to restate  that information again on the reservation form attached.

The cost per adult/children 12 and up will be $25.00 per person, no charge for children 11 and under.   Keep in mind this fee is based on 100 attending family members, should that number increase or decrease we will need to revisit the expenses and perhaps adjustments might have to be made.

Andrew is putting together a FAMILY TREE, going back to Steven Volchko’s parents from the old country. Which includes Steve’s brothers and sisters branching out to the ever growing  family  tree.  Email Andy any pictures you would like to have posted on the family tree. Send to avolchko@verizon.net .                                                Please make sure that he has all the information to list on the tree, and to put into a booklet for all family members to share.  If you find you are not able to attend the reunion, but want to share info, that would be great also.  Complete the registration form, and advise your status. Include your check for the fee designated per adult person, and mail a few days before April 30, 2017.  Mail to Debbie Uzarski (Treasurer) 1430 McKenna Ave. Pittsburgh Pa 15205 , or Judith Volchko 432 N McKean St. Butler, Pa. 16001.

To All Family Members of the Volchko Clan,

I don’t know if you are aware of it, but we have recently lost the last of the Old Generation , sweet Aunt Barb (Steve) Volchko from Ohio.  She was the final representative of the oldest generation, including our dear uncles and aunts, and Grandpap Steve and Grandma Mary Volchko.  They were the founders of our family when Steve Volchko came to America in early 1900’s.  They married in 1911, and thus the family began.

It was a realization at Aunt Barb’s passing that each generation has moved up a block on the chart. It was noted that Sis, Joe and Jerry (my dad) are the elders of the family.  Even though sis refuses to be called the Matriarch!  Keeping that movement in mind, we began discussing how many family members have never met each other,  or have the opportunities to make those special memories we all have.

As family members pass, new ones come into the picture.  But you could be walking down the street and not know you have a cousin or relative, the family structure is falling apart, and we would like to bring it together again.  This would be for all of us and generations to come.  There is history in our family and stories that have never been shared by all to enjoy.

My mom and dad and I were talking and thought perhaps we could assemble a fourth family reunion, the last one was in 2008.  How does that sound to you and your family? We have found a good spot in Cranberry , Pa., near transportation, airport, interstates, hotels, restaurants, and much more for all to enjoy.

Please take a moment to outline and build your family tree members and update it with dates if possible.  We would like to put together a family tree for all to have and share.  Another thing that we did for the last reunion, was each generation list a special memory or story to share with the family. Maybe sometime you spent with the grand elders in Crucible or elsewhere.  Ex:  I remember when Aunt Kay decided in her 50’s she was going to drive with or without Uncle Andy.  He went for the rides HA HA!

A special moment with Steve or Mary, or your uncles, aunts, cousins, anything that would show how dear family can be, and to remind us we need to stay in touch.

We were thinking for mid August, before school starts over a weekend.  We know its close but there is over four months to assemble it.  If you think that is too short of a time, perhaps we can set it up for August 2017, depending on how many let us know.  We thought the sooner the better, who knows who we will lose in the next year, memories, stories and family times will be gone.

Please contact me at avolchko@verizon.net  Andrew “Drew” Volchko  or my mom Judy at coolmama58@zoominternet.net  asap.  We have to make decisions on food etc, cost to each family, so a response to agree to move forward would be appreciated and then details to follow.  We all have emails, and facebook to communicate with, so lets use it and have some fun.  I am sending this to Steve Volchko in Chicago, who set up a Volchko web site to put this memo on too.  Family@volchko.com .

Again if you have any suggestions, ideas, or thoughts please pass them along.  We hope to honor this family that has existed for over 100 years and has grown with leaps and bounds to continue  honest, hardworking  roots to grow in our family trees.

If you have any questions, please again email one of us.

Take care all, please pass along this memo to other family members we don’t have emails for.

We will send these to one family member for each group and hope it gets around.

God bless everyone, stay safe, and healthy and look forward to seeing everyone soon.  Also look forward to meeting our newest members since the last reunion.

Love to all

Andrew and Judy Volchko

PS: if there are errors, please excuse them HA HA
